SEPTEMBER ECO-HOLIDAYS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

While most of us already know Earth Day, you don’t have to wait until April 22nd every year to celebrate an eco-friendly holiday! Knowing that you’re contributing to the future of the planet can give you a sense of fulfilment and that’s why we thought we should write a blog regarding two September eco-holidays you need to know about! 😊 Sustainable living is one way to give back to the environment, not to mention a good opportunity to make sure the needs of the present generation are met without compromising the resources for the next ones, so keep reading to find out more.

The first eco-holiday we want to talk about is International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. Back in 2000, September 16th was designated as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer by the United Nations General Assembly. We all know that the preservation of the ozone layer is such an important thing, but do we do enough to protect it? The ozone layer, albeit a fragile shield of gas, protects life on Earth from the harmful rays of the sun by absorbing ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation. It covers the entire planet and helps preserve life on it. Life on Earth would be impossible without the sun, but the energy emanating from the sun would be too much for life on Earth to survive if it wasn’t for the ozone layer. The good news is that the global efforts to prevent ozone depletion show that stratospheric concentrations of ozone-depleting substances are declining. As a direct result of joint international action, the ozone layer is expected to recover to pre-1980 levels although it will take decades for this to happen. That is why it is important for everyone to realize that this is a global concern and we all must work together towards preserving life on our planet. We’re trying our best to do our part with our eco-friendly machines, are you doing yours?

The other eco-holiday we want to mention is Zero Emissions Day, celebrated every year on September 21st. The purpose of this day is to give our planet a break from fossil fuels and what they release into the air, at least for one day, every year. This encompasses greenhouse gasses, polluting substances, microparticles, and other things that are harming our planet. The importance of Zero Emissions Day is paramount because it aims to encourage the use of renewable energy sources, as opposed to finite fossil fuels. This day is especially important to us as a company since we’ve been working hard for decades to develop zero emissions technology that can be found in our very own GM1ze, 200ze, 500ze and 500 H2 machines where the “ze” in their names stands for, you guessed it – zero emissions! The H2 in 500H2 stands for hydrogen because this machine runs 100% on hydrogen and it’s also a zero-emissions machine. 😊

The importance of both International Ozone Day and Zero Emissions Day is immense since this eco movement has everyone’s best interest at heart – we can all start making small changes that will contribute to making the world a better place and help preserve life on our planet.

These are only two September eco-holidays you need to know about, but there are many others, in every month of the year. Start reading about them and find ways to make a contribution, no matter how small, because every step counts. Our planet’s preservation is important for all of us, not just certain individuals.
